Past Events & Results

March 17, 2014 – Lecture presentation “The Art of Selling,” at Edison State College, Bldg "N" room 203, from 1:45 to 3 pm. I had two classes. The students seemed interested and I got some kind feedback from the professor. I had 3 sales.

March 13, 2014 – Lecture to the “Hands-on-Writing class,” at North Fort Myers Parks & Recreation Center, “The Art of Selling.” Tailored my presentation to the class, it was fun. I had one sale.

March 7-9, 2014 – Book signing at Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo, at Arcadia Rodeo grounds, 124 Heard Street, Arcadia Florida, from 9 am to 4 pm. I cancelled March 7th date, due to a head cold. Saturday and Sunday were beautiful days, sold out crowds and I had 28 sales.

March 2, 2014 – Book signing at the Art and Music Fest at the Pottery Express located at 25370 Zemel Rd, Punta Gorda, FL, from 10 am to 3 pm. Wonderful day, but the "Love Bugs" came out around 1 pm. Good crowd, music and I had 11 sales.

February 26, 2014 – Lecture presentation “A Day in the Life of a Wild West Show,” given at the Fort Myers, Downtown Library, starting at 10 am. This was the first Author's presentation for the Fort Myers Library, Friends of the Library organization. There were 28 in attendance and I had 5 sales.

February 8, 2014 – Rio de la Paz Festival & Art of the River at South Florida State College, DeSoto Campus, Arcadia, FL, 10 am to 4 pm. Fewer authors participated, light foot traffic, but managed 7 sales.

February 1, 2014 – Arts and Music Festival, Barron Park, LaBelle FL, presented by Arts of the Inland, from 10 am to 4 pm. It turned out to be a very nice day, light foot traffic. I had 10 sales.

January 14, 2014 – Lecture to the Art Council of Southwest Florida and Arts of the Inland at Keiser University (Forum), Very receptive audience and had 3 sales.

January 11, 2014 – Book Signing at the Grand Opening of the new Fort Myers Library. Very poor foot traffic, but managed 3 sales.

November 30 to Dec 1 - Book signing and presentation at Matlacha Authors Day, Matlacha Park, Matlacha, FL, from 9 am to 5:30 pm. Location was hard to find, but the setup was very nice. The bottom line was there was no foot traffic. In two days maybe 175 people showed up. I did manage 9 sales.

November 9, 2013 – Book signing at Civilian Conservation Corps Festival, Highlands Hammock State Park, Sebring, FL from 10 am to 4 pm. This was a well organized event with good foot traffic, and NO rain. I had 16 sales plus I gave out over 10 “Do You Need a Speaker” brochures.

November 10, 2013 – Book Signing at the Art and Music Fest at the Pottery Express/Bamboo Farm/Inspiration Studio in Punta Gorda, FL from 10 am to 3 pm, located at 25370 Zemel Rd, Punta Gorda, FL. This is a wonderful place, huge pottery factory. This was my third visit, and started to see some of the same people. I had three people stop by and tell me they had already bought my book and when I asked them if they like it, the response was always positive. I had 7 sales.

October 19, 2013 - Book signing at Alliance for the Arts Fall for the Arts, Fort Myers, FL, from 10 am to 3 pm. It was hot, the event is geared to children and had a lot of parents with kids, but not many buyers. I had 4 sales.

October 16, 2013 - Seminar at North Port Library, "The Road to Publication" at 6 to 7:30 PM, 13800 S. Tamiami Trail, North Port, FL. 16 attended my presentation and the feedback comments were “Overall presentation was excellent and the program exceeded expectations.” The reference librarian is forwarding my “Do you Need a Speaker” brochure to the programming coordinator for Sarasota county, and I may receive additional requests for presentations. I had one sale.

September 27 to 29, 2013 - Writer’s Weekend, Mt. Dora, FL. Booking signing 28-29th in lobby of Lakeside Inn. Seminar "The Road to Publication" Saturday, 28th at 2:30 pm in Grandview room. A fun weekend, good company, but little foot traffic. I managed 7 sales.

September 21, 2013 - Seminar at Gulf Coast Writers Association, "The Road to Publication," from 11 to Noon, Zion Lutheran Church, Fort Myers, FL. I had 2 sales.

March 16, 2013 – Book signing at Lee County Reading Festival held at the Harborside Event Center, Fort Myers, FL, from 10 am to 1 pm. I had 5 sales.

March 10, 2013 – Book signing at the Art and Music Fest at the Pottery Express located at 25370 Zemel Rd, Punta Gorda, FL, from 10 am to 3 pm. The day started slow but ended up nicely, I had 12 sales.

March 8 – 9, 2013 – Book signing at Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo, at Arcadia Rodeo grounds, 124 Heard Street, from 9 am to 4 pm. Two very nice days and good crowds, I had a total of 26 sales, and bought a cowboy hat.

February 16, 2013 – Book signing at 4th Annual Dearborn Street Book festival in Pioneer Park on W. Dearborn St., Englewood, FL. Nice day, fair foot traffic, but no one was opening their wallets, I had only 2 sales. The week was not a loss, as I had 5 sales at the ACE Classic Golf Tournament from the Carts and Shuttles crew.

February 9, 2013 – Book signing at South Florida State College, DeSoto Campus, Arcadia, FL, "Art of the River" show, from 9 am to 4 pm. We were in a classroom and did not get much traffic, but I again managed 10 sales.

February 7, 2013 – Book signing at AurthorFest located in the the Marco Island Center for the Arts, Marco Island, FL from 11 am to 3 pm. This was their first attempt at a book signing for the Marco Island Writers group. A nice bunch of people. Not much foot traffic, but I still managed 11 sales.

February 2, 2013 – Book signing at “Inland Arts” held at Barron Park, LaBelle, FL. Very nice day, with good entertainment all day. I had 10 sales.

December 16, 2012 – Book signing at Savvy Art & Flea Market, from 11 am to 3 pm, located at 9405 Cypress Lake Dr. Fort Myers. This was my first total bust. No foot traffic and I left at noon. NO sales.

December 15, 2012 – Book signing at “Christmas in Paradise” at the Hampton Inn, 619 SE 47th Terrace, Cape Coral from 9 am to Noon. This was an event run by the ladies of "Women's Life Chapter," very nice people, but no foot traffic. I did manage 4 sales.

November 25, 2012 – Book signing at Author’s Market, Festival of Lights, at Fisherman’s Village, Punta Gorda, FL, 12 to 6 pm. Nice day, good foot traffic, but was a hard sell, only 9 sold.

November 17, 2012 – Book signing at the Clewiston Chamber of Commerce “Christmas Craft Fair” in the John Boy Auditorium, Clewiston, from 9 am to 5 pm. This did not turn out to be what was advertised. It was a raffle for 40 free turkeys and a few chamber booths. Foot traffic was almost non-existent, but I managed 8 sales. We left at 1 pm when the Radio station started blaring Rap music.

November 11, 2012 – Book Signing at the Art and Music Fest at the Pottery Express/Bamboo Farm/Inspiration Studio in Punta Gorda, FL from 10 am to 3 pm, located at 25370 Zemel Rd, Punta Gorda, FL. This is a wonderful place, huge pottery factory. I recommend you stop by sometime. I had 15 sales.

November 10, 2012 – Book signing at the Faith Lutheran Church in Lehigh Acres at their annual “Books, arts and craft fair,” from 9 am to 2 pm. Very light foot traffic. I had 3 (three) book sales.

October 28, 2012 – Book signing at “The Art Experience at The Hut,” from 3 to 6 pm at “The Hut,” located at 5150 Buckingham Rd, Fort Myers. Very light foot traffic, nice location but only 2 sales.

October 27, 2012 – Lecture “Marketing – Pre to Post Publishing, What an Author should do.” 10 am to Noon at the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2439 McGregor Blvd. Fort Myers, FL. The membership appreciated the presentation and I had 1 sale.

October 20, 2012 – Book signing at Alliance for the Arts, Fort Myers, FL from 10 am to 3 pm. We were moved to the back room and had little foot traffic, but managed 5 sales.

September 18, 2012 – Award recognition of the Stuart Thayer Prize at the Arts of the Inland meeting held at 6 PM, at the Majestic Golf Course, 350 Homestead Rd. S. Lehigh Acres, FL. I had 1 sale.

June 30, 2012 – Book signing at the Wild West Show at Pawnee Bill’s Ranch, Pawnee, OK. I had 32 sales.

June 29, 2012 – Visited the National Cowboy& Western Heritage Museum, Oklahoma City, OK, and visited Oklahoma Historical Society. Conducted research at both locations.

June 28, 2012 – Book presentation and signing at Pawnee Bill Ranch, Pawnee, OK. I had 9 sales.

June 26, 2012 – Book presentation and signing at Buffalo Bill Historical Museum, Golden, CO. I had 27 sales.

June 24, 2012 – Park County Library, Cody, WY. Guest speaker topic: A day in the life of a Wild West Show. A small turnout, I had 3 sales.

June 23, 2012 – Book signings at the Irma Hotel in Cody, WY. I had 14 sales and sold 2 at the Thistle book store.

June 22, 2012 – Book signing at City News & Pipe, Cheyenne, WY. I had 10 sales.

June 21, 2012 – Book signing at Buffalo Bill Ranch, North Platte, NE. I had 36 sales. I also sold 4 to Fort Cody, in North Platte.

June 20, 2012 – Book signing and lecture, “Librarian: Historians best Friend” at the Fairbury, NE, Library. I had 11 sales and presented 1 copy to the Library as gift. I also gave a presentation at the Fairbury Museum that evening at 7 pm. It was a good turnout despite the heavy rain. I had 12 sales. While in the area I sold 2 copies to the Beatrice Public Library and Jefferson County Historical Society.

June 18, 2012 – Stopped in at the Buffalo Bill Museum in Le Claire, Iowa, the birth place of Cody. I had 20 sales.

June 17, 2012 – Book presentation and signing at Fountaindale Public Library, Bolingbrook, IL, 1:30 to 4:30 pm. Reception with Georgian community followed. I had 25 sales, plus I presented Natela a gift copy for her assistance, and signed 1 copy to the President of the Republic of Georgia (to be hand delivered).

June 16, 2012 – Presentation "A Day in the Life of a Wild West Show," I had 18 sales.

June 15, 2012 – Received the Stuart Thayer Prize, a humbling honor.

June 14, 2012 – Attended Circus Historical Society Convention. I had 14 sales.

June 12, 2012 – The Georgian community reception was cancelled. Placed nine books on consignment at Left Bank Books, Pudd'n Head book store, and Webster Groves Bookshop. Sold 3 books.

June 8 & 9, 2012 – Played a golf tournament with my brother-in-law at Cleveland Golf Club. We took 3rd place.

June 7, 2012 – Presentation "A Day in the Life of a Wild West Show," at Cleveland, Bradley Co, Public Library. I had 8 sales.

April 14-15, 2012 – Book signing at Balloons Over Paradise Festival in Immokalee, FL. Windy conditions and the balloons did not fly. Had good crowds and 25 sales. Met Lisa, the person who designed book cover and layout. I gave her a signed gift copy.

March 24, 2012 – Book Signing at Barnes & Noble. I worked the floor from 1 pm to 4:15 pm and sold 14 books.

March 17, 2012 – Booking signing at the Lee County Reading Festival.  I worked from 10 am to 1 pm and had 6 sales. I made contact with a lady who had worked in Peace Corp in Georgia and is arranging contact with their five book stores in the Republic of Georgia. (Wish me Luck)

February 25th to March 3rd – Onboard the SS Norwegian Sun cruising the Caribbean. Held a lecture on February 27th titled: Cossacks, Indians and Buffalo Bill, A history of Wild West Shows. A second lecture held on March 1st titled: A Day in the Life of a Wild West Show. I had a great cruise, enjoyed the shows, weather, and relaxation, plus I had 41 sales.

February 18, 2012 – Book Signing at Englewood’s Dearborn Street Festival, 10 am to 3 pm in Pioneer Park. 20 plus authors represented, a fair crowd, nice day, and I had 15 sales.

February 4, 2012Discover the Inland Festival 2012, at Barron Park, LaBelle, FL. 10 am to 4 pm, very nice park, good music, small traffic, but great sales. I sold 28 copies.

January 21, 2012 - Cape Coral (921 SW 39th Ter.) "Friends of the Library" speaker. Used two new visual slide shows, one is a slide presentation of all my Georgian rider slides, and the second is my presentation. Nice and friendly group, 23 members present, sold 8 books.

December 17, 2011 - Book Signing at Author’s & Artist Christmas Bazaar, FGCU, Herald Court, Punta Gorda, FL. There was light foot traffic, but had 6 sales and I presented one copy to James Abraham (Book-Broker) for review in Florida Weekly.

December 13, 2011 – Speaker at the Arts of the Inland Monthly Meeting, my topic: “My experience as an author and the marketing and tax implications of artistic work.” I had 3 sales.

December 3, 2011 - Book signing at GCWA Meet the Writers Day at Bell Tower Shops, Fort Myers, FL. from 10 am to 4 pm. Light foot traffic, however, had 10 sales and then sold 5 to my friend, Harold, an owner of CRÜ, a great restaurant. (click on Author, Photo Gallery)

November 27, 2011 - Book signing at Author's Market, Festival of Lights, Fisherman's Village, Punta Gorda, FL, 12 am to 6 pm. Sold 11 books and made one trade. I’m also during the season providing a free mailer with each purchase.

November 4, 2011 - Book signing at Barnes & Noble, Hilton Head Island. The manager and workers were great, and I had 15 sales.

October 29, 2011 - Book signing at Barnes and Noble, Fort Myers,11am to 3pm.
I worked the floor, 18 sales.

October 22, 2011 - Book signing at Alliance for the Arts event, "Fall for the Arts." Good traffic, 7 sales.

October 15, 2011 - Book Signing at Barnes & Noble, Naples, FL, 10 am to Noon. Location second floor in Children's books, little traffic, 2 sales.

September 17, 2011 - Supported the “Arts of the Inland and Lehigh Links” event “Constitution Day.” Had a delightful day. 13 sales

September 11, 2011 - Meet at the St. Tamar Orthodox Church in Rockville, MD for a book discussion with the Georgian community of Washington DC. A large gathering including a Georgian feast. 24 sales. Also, conducted Voice of America radio interview.

September 7, 2011 - The Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, VA, was a beautiful location and great golf. 9 sales

May 25, 2011 – Held a Voice of America radio interview, and Television interview – both were broadcast on Sunday May 29 in the Republic of Georgia.

May 24, 2011 – Attended The Republic of Georgia’s Independence celebration at the National Portrait Museum in Washington DC.  Met the Georgian Ambassador, The Honorable Temuri Yakobashvili. (click on Author, Photo Gallery)

April 7, 2011 - Richard attended the opening of Irakli Makharadze's Georgians in USA photographic exhibition at the Harriman Institute, Colombia University, NY. He met the U.N. Ambassador from Georgia, Alexander Lomaia, members of his staff, and over sixty members of the Georgian community in New York. This was a successful networking opportunity.
